1993 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-060WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Jean Lee found 1993P-1DER-060WS, a 1993 Philadelphia reverse with moderate wavy steps across the four middle columns and moderate fluting lines reaching into the stylobate below columns 2 and 3. The offset is 190°, a few degrees west of south. Its code is made of 1993P (year plus P mint mark), 1 (the cent), DER (a reverse design extension, in TrailDies' terms), 060 (file) and WS (wavy steps), trails cutting across the Memorial's stairs so the steps lose their straight edges. The middle-die-state coin shows a run of small gouges in and around the S of TRUST and a gouge between the O and F of OF. A rotary buff polishing the die is the usual explanation, with die movement against the hub the minority view.
