The first die dot occupies the narrow space between the U of UNITED and the first column of the Memorial, while the second sits under the diagonal stroke of the N in ONE. Both are reverse markers on a Stage C late-die-state wavy-step trail die where no obverse markers were noted. Die dots form when a microscopic fragment of die steel detaches and leaves a pinpoint void that fills with metal during striking, producing a tiny raised bump.
