1993 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-046WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Moderate wavy steps beneath columns 5 to 8, at 180°, due south, are the trail feature of 1993P-1DER-046WS. The code gives 1993 and P for Philadelphia, a 1 for the cent, DER for a design extension TrailDies places on the reverse, the file 046 and WS, wavy steps (the stairs look bent where trails cross them). TrailDies' stage C coin pairs an early-state obverse with a late-state reverse. That reverse is well marked: a scrape starts under UNITED and passes through column 1 into bay 1, there are chips on the left edge of the cornice and in columns 2 and 11, and bay 10 shows a clash. A rotary buff polishing the die is the usual explanation, with die movement against the hub the minority view.

• Reverse is LDS – die scrape from the bottom of UNITED, through column 1 and into bay 1. Die chip on the left edge of the cornice. Die chip in column 2. Die clash in bay 10. Die chip in column 11.
