Error
Description
Light wavy steps, stronger on the left, run under columns 5 through 8 on 1993P-1DER-042WS, and the offset is 180°, due south. As TrailDies writes it, the code joins 1993P (the date, Philadelphia), 1 (the cent), DER (a reverse design extension), 042 (the file) and WS (wavy steps, where crossing trail lines put a bend in the Memorial's steps). Nothing was noted on the obverse of the middle-die-state coin. The reverse has a gouge below the left end of the Memorial's base and a die dot beneath the left side of the T's crossbar in CENT. The standard account puts trails down to die polishing with a rotating buff, while a minority attributes them to die-to-hub movement.
