1993 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-038WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

A 1993 Philadelphia cent reverse, 1993P-1DER-038WS carries TrailDies' DER tag for a reverse design extension, file number 038 and WS for wavy steps. Moderate bending shows in the stairs below the four central columns, the wavy-step effect produced where trails cut across the steps, and light fluting lines reach from the left pair of columns, 2 and 3, into the stylobate. The offset is 190°, just west of south. TrailDies saw no obverse markers on its middle-die-state coin; the reverse has a die dot above the L of PLURIBUS and a crack with a chip in column 1. Polishing the die with a rotary tool is the generally accepted cause, with die-against-hub movement offered by some as an alternative.
