Description
Only light wavy steps appear on 1993P-1DER-033WS: the stair lines under columns 5 through 8 bend a little where trail lines pass over them, at an offset of 180°, due south. TrailDies' code gives the year and Philadelphia mint, the 1 of the cent, DER marking the reverse as the side with a design extension, file 033 and WS. With an effect this faint, die markers do much of the identifying. The coin described is mid-life: on the obverse a crack in Lincoln's hair angles up toward WE, and the reverse has a chip at the cornice's left edge and a gouge inside the O of ONE. Trails are generally attributed to a rotary buff polishing the die, although some argue the die moved against the hub instead.
