Description
Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate under columns 11, 12 and right corner. Very strong step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, with an offset direction of 200 degrees. Light step deviation is seen under the right post (urn). This later die stage (Stage “C”) coin has serious plating concerns. Billy Crawford’s picture showing the die crack in Stage “C”.
Die Markers
- Stage “B”, obverse is VLDS – a ring of die gouge below the BE of LIBERTY. A small die gouge Is seen to the left of the DATE.
- Reverse is MDS – none noted.
- Stage “C”, obverse is LEDS – obverse die has been changed. Small triangular shaped die gouge is seen next to the rim.
- Reverse is LDS – a die crack is seen in the lower parts of bays 6, 7 and 8.
