Description
1993P-1DEO-001T is an obverse trail die on a 1993 Philadelphia Lincoln cent. In TrailDies' code, 1993P is the date and mint, 1 the cent, DEO an obverse design extension, 001 the file and T the trails type. The trails here are light and short, hanging from the bottom of LIBERTY and from the 19 of the date at 180°, toward the bottom of the coin; the 1 and 9 also look slightly thickened along their lower edges, something TrailDies says trail dies sometimes show. Middle-die-state markers include diagonal scratching below Lincoln's throat and long slanting scratches under the RTY of LIBERTY. Its reverse partner is the trail die 1993P-1DER-037, with trails on EPU. Polish applied to the die with a rotary buff is the usual suspect, though a few attribute the lines to the die moving against the hub.
