Description
1993D-1DER-025T has trails from the tops of the motto letters and of STATES, angled up and to the left at 330°, north-northwest. Its code gives the date and Denver mint (1993D), the cent (1), TrailDies' reverse design extension (DER), file 025 and trails (T). The late-die-state coin TrailDies describes has scratches just under the mint mark, and on the reverse three short scratches leave the upper curve of the final S of STATES. Those markers help separate it from 1993D-1DER-022T, whose lines run the same way. Michael Pope of Illinois found both dies. Trails are usually attributed to rotary polishing of the die; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die scratches are seen just below the mint mark.
- Reverse is LDS – three short die scratches are seen from the upper curve of the last S in STATES
