Description
1993D-1DER-024WS is a strong wavy-step reverse: the stairs bend under columns 4 through 9, and TrailDies points out how far down the bend goes, nearly to the lowest step. Wavy steps (the WS in the code) are trails crossing the Memorial's staircase so its edges look bent. 1993D names the year and Denver Mint, 1 the cent; DER is TrailDies' code for a reverse with design extension, and 024 is the file. The offset is 190°, a shade west of south. TrailDies' middle-die-state coin has a gouge right of the E in WE on the obverse; the reverse has upright die scratches in every bay, heaviest in bays 5, 6 and 7. Jean Lee found the die. Polishing of the die with a rotary buff is the usual explanation, though some think the die moved against the hub.

- Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen to the right of the E in WE.
- Reverse is MDS – vertical dies scratching is seen in all bays, with the strongest seen in bays 5, 6 and 7.
