Description
Jean Lee found 1993D-1DER-023WS, a 1993 Denver cent reverse with wavy steps. The stairs bend moderately under five columns, 5 through 9, and the fluting of column 3 extends moderately below it, all at an offset of 200°, south-southwest. The code breaks into 1993D, the one-cent 1, DER, which records that the extension is on the reverse, 023 for the file, and WS, wavy steps, its term for trails crossing the Memorial's staircase. On the middle-die-state coin, a gouge lies on the coat line level with the mint mark, and a small die dot sits above the left arm of the T's crossbar in CENT. Rotary polishing of the die is the common explanation for trails, with the die moving against the hub as the minority account.
