Description
On 1993D-1DER-022T, light trails come off the upper left corners of the motto letters, with signs of them on the first T of STATES as well. They point at 330°, up and to the left, north-northwest. TrailDies' number reads 1993D (Denver, 1993), 1 (cent), DER (reverse design extension), 022 (file), T (trails). The middle-die-state coin has a gouge on the mint mark's lower left serif and a small one on the lower right of Lincoln's coat; on the reverse, a small gouge lies left of the U in UNITED. Michael Pope of Illinois found the die. Polishing of the die with a rotary tool is the usual explanation for trails, though some prefer the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen on the lower left serif of the mint mark. Another small die gouge is seen on the lower right coat of Lincoln.
- Reverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen to the left of the U in UNITED.
