1993 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-014WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

TrailDies file 1993D-1DER-014WS: a 1993 Denver Lincoln cent (1993D, 1), reverse design extension (DER), number 014, wavy steps (WS). The steps beneath columns 5 to 8 waver moderately, as if the stairs had been drawn with an unsteady hand, and light fluting lines drop below the second and third columns into the stylobate. The offset reads 190°, slightly west of straight down. Reverse markers on the middle-die-state coin help separate it from its neighbours: a small chip in the stylobate below column 2, a gouge at the lower right of column 6 and another chip in the stairs under column 7. The obverse showed nothing. As with other trail dies, rotary polishing of the die is the usual attribution, and a minority view blames movement of the die against the hub.
