1993 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-013WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 1993D-1DER-013WS the Memorial's steps bend moderately beneath the four central columns, 5 through 8, and the effect is heavier on the left of that group. The number gives the year and Denver mint (1993D), the denomination (1, a cent), the reverse design-extension tag (DER), the file (013) and the type (WS), wavy steps being trail lines that cross the stairs. Their offset runs at 180°, due south. The middle-die-state coin TrailDies describes carries three little gouges below Lincoln's chin on the obverse, and the reverse shows a tiny die dot in the shrub beside the right-hand urn. Most observers link wavy steps to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, while some put them down to die movement against the hub.
