Description
1993D-5DEO-001T is a 1993 Denver Jefferson nickel obverse with light trails on the I, B, E and R of LIBERTY, pointing to 000°, due north, toward the rim at the top. TrailDies' number puts the date and mint first, then 5 for the nickel, DEO for an obverse design extension, file 001 and T for trails. The obverse is very late in its life, with three small gouges between the E and R of LIBERTY, and the late reverse has a gouge between the U and R of PLURIBUS. Tanaka Davis found it. Trails are generally attributed to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
