1992 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-006T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Trails on 1992P-1DER-006T rise off the upper edges of the motto's letters, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and slant up to the left at 330°, north-northwest. The code stands for 1992, P for Philadelphia, a cent, the reverse design extension (DER), file 006 and trails (T). File 005 of the same year has trails on the same letters angled the other way, so the direction and the markers tell the two apart. On this middle-die-state coin, a gouge sits above the L of LIBERTY and die damage just left of the 2 in the date; on the reverse, a gouge lies below the N of CENT. Rock Hasenberg found the die. Polishing of the die with a rotary tool is the usual explanation for trails; a minority links them to the die moving against the hub.

• Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen above the L of LIBERTY. Die damage is seen just to the left of the 2 digit in the date.
• Reverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen below the N of CENT.
