Description

TrailDies numbers this 1991 Philadelphia cent reverse 1991P-1DER-006WS, the 006 being its file and the WS meaning wavy steps; 1 stands for the cent and DER for TrailDies' reverse-side design extension. Trail lines enter the stylobate below columns 2 and 3, and the steps below columns 5, 6 and 7 waver lightly where trails cross them. The direction is 190°, a touch west of south. On the middle-die-state coin, heavy slanting scratches lie above ERTY in LIBERTY and a small die dot sits above and right of the date; the reverse shows scrapes under AMERICA and a small gouge between the rim and the left end of the building's base. Louis Schaeffer found the die. Specialists generally credit trails to rotary polishing of the die, with die-to-hub movement as the minority explanation.

• Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – heavy, diagonal die scratches are seen above the ERTY of LIBERTY. A small die dot is seen to the right and above the date.
• Reverse is MDS – die scrapes are seen under the word AMERICA. A small die gouge is seen between the rim and the  left base of the memorial building.
