1989 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-007WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

1989P-1DER-007WS shows only light step deviation, confined to the stairs below columns 6 and 7, at 190°, south with a small westward lean. Step deviation, or wavy steps, is TrailDies' term for trails crossing the Memorial's stairs so the steps appear bent, and WS closes the number after the 1989P date, the 1DER prefix for a cent reverse with a design extension, and file 007. The middle-die-state coin has scratches through the B and E of LIBERTY, a scratch near the C of CENT, light scratching in bays 4, 5 and 6, and clash marks in bay 4. Trails are usually credited to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, though some credit the die moving against the hub.
