1988 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-002WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Moderate bending of the stairs under columns 6, 7 and 8, plus a light extension of column 3's fluting into the stylobate, marks 1988P-1DER-002WS. The lines run at 190°, a few degrees west of due south. The code covers a 1988 Philadelphia cent (1988P-1), the reverse design extension tag (DER), file 002 and WS for wavy steps, TrailDies' name for trails crossing the Memorial's steps. Markers on the middle-die-state coin: a die scratch beneath Lincoln's shoulder, and a small dot against the right side of the upright of the E in CENT. A rotary buff used to polish the die is the usual suspect for trails, though some suspect the die moved against the hub.
