Description
1988P-1DER-001WS is file 001 of TrailDies' 1988 Philadelphia cent reverses; DER is its reverse design extension group, and WS stands for wavy steps, the bent look the stairs take when trails pass over them. The steps here are moderately affected under columns 5 through 9, and fluting lines from columns 1 and 2 extend moderately into the stylobate, all at 190°, slightly west of south. On the middle-die-state coin, a small dot lies under the O of GOD and a small gouge sits between the rim and the left end of the Memorial's base. Louis Schaeffer found it. Trails are usually ascribed to polishing of the die with a rotary buff; some ascribe them to the die moving against the hub.
