Description

1988-D WTRD-008 is a transitional reverse design on the 1988-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as a 1988-D cent struck with the 1989 reverse design. On the obverse, a die scratch heads SSW from the lower left of the B in LIBERTY, and a pair of parallel scratches run NNE from the base of the L in LIBERTY. From the top left of the N in IN, a short scratch runs north. A short vertical scratch sits beside the top of the O in GOD, on its right, and a short scratch runs NNW from the vest front, SW of the 1 in the date. Above the F in OF on the reverse, a scratch runs from SSE to NNW, and a short, almost vertical scratch lies above the M in AMERICA. A small gouge (dot) sits in the lower part of the E in CENT, and a short vertical scratch lies between the bottoms of the N and E in ONE. Wayne Perry submitted the variety.
