Description

1988-D WTRD-002 is a transitional reverse design on the 1988-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as a 1988-D Lincoln cent struck with the 1989 reverse design. On the obverse, a small gouge (dot) sits between the I and N of IN, and a vertical scratch lies beside the lower back of the head, on its left. On the reverse, a small gouge lies left of the top of UNITED's N, a gouge sits near the rim under the left upright of the N in ONE, and a small gouge (dot) lies left of the top of the initials' F. Joseph Koelling submitted the variety. Crawford lists it as CTRD-001.
