Description

1988-D WTRD-003 is a transitional reverse design on the 1988-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as a 1988-D Lincoln cent struck with the 1989 reverse design. On the obverse, a scratch joins the bases of the R and T in LIBERTY, and a vertical scratch sits right of the top of TRUST's S. One scratch runs east to the rim from the lower right of the mint mark, and another runs east from the upper neck, just below the chin. Wexler found no reliable die markers on the reverse. Joseph Koelling submitted the variety. Crawford lists it as CTRD-002.
