1987 (P) Roosevelt Dime - P-10DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Strong trails mark 1987P-10DEO-001T, a 1987 Philadelphia Roosevelt dime obverse. They run from LIBERTY, the motto, the date and the P mint mark straight down the coin at 180°, due south. The number is built from the year and mint (1987P), the dime's 10, DEO for the obverse, file number 001, and a T because the die has trails. Jean Lee is the finder. TrailDies' coin is at stage B: old scratches lie behind Roosevelt's head, and the reverse has a heavy scratch running from the lower oak branch through the M of UNUM into the E of DIME. Trails like these are mostly credited to the die being polished with a rotary buff, though a minority prefers die-to-hub movement.
