Description
The trails on 1984P-1DEO-007T rise from three digits of the date, the 9, the 8 and the 4, and point toward 010°, a touch east of north. Its file number pairs the 1984P date and mint with the cent's 1, then the obverse code DEO, then 007T: file seven, trails type. The coin is graded stage B. A long diagonal scratch lies beneath the N of IN; the reverse shows a small flow line that has formed inside the top loop of the first S in STATES. Billy Crawford found the die. Polishing of the die with a rotary buff is the standard explanation for trails, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
