1984 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-006T Trail Die Obverse

Description

On 1984P-1DEO-006T the trails are on the date rather than the lettering: TrailDies sees them below the 19, running at roughly 200°, south-southwest, down and slightly left. Its number decodes as 1984 Philadelphia (1984P), one cent (1), obverse side (DEO), sixth file (006), trails type (T). The obverse of the coin TrailDies describes is graded MDS (stage B), with light scratches running northeast to southwest above the date. The reverse is graded late, with a small scratch in bay 4 of the Memorial. Aisha Shahid found the die. Trails are usually attributed to rotary polishing of the die; a minority view attributes them to the die moving against the hub.
