Description
On 1984P-1DEO-004T the trails come off the tops of the BERT of LIBERTY at 340°, north-northwest, up and slightly to the left. The code gives the year with its P mint letter, then the one-cent digit, the obverse code DEO, file 004 and the trails letter. TrailDies grades the coin MDS, stage B. A die dot sits on the right side of the 9 in the date. On the reverse there is a dent left of the first S in STATES and damage to the right of column 12 of the Memorial. Andrew Heebner of Pennsylvania found the die. Trails are generally explained as the product of polishing the die with a rotary tool; a minority attributes them to the die moving against the hub.
