1984 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-011

Description

1984-D WRPM-011 is a repunched mint mark on the 1984-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the secondary D sits at an angle to the primary one. On the obverse, gouges lie NW of the mint mark, and small gouges (dots) sit under the chin and under the nose. A light gouge lies in the hair, centered below the TR of TRUST, and another gouge sits just over the tip of Lincoln's hair under TRUST's R. West of the lower bow tie, the jacket carries three strong gouges, and a gouge lies well under the BE in LIBERTY. Wexler's obverse list also includes die damage along the right edge of Column 12. On the reverse, a light gouge sits at the rim under the N in ONE, and heavy abrasion lines, running SW-NE, show over ONE CENT. John Shields submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
