Obverse Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: The obverse of this variety is also a doubled die listed as 1971 $1 WDDO-001A. Obverse Stage B: The obverse of this variety is also a doubled die listed as 1971 $1 WDDO-001B. Reverse Stage A: A small die gouge (dot) can be found inside the top of the R in DOLLAR. A die scratch runs ESE from the upper right 2nd L in DOLLAR. A die gouge can be found below the D in UNITED. A die scratch runs ESE from the center right of the F in OF. Parallel die scratches run WNW from the left side of star 8. A die scratch runs ESE from the top of star 9. Reverse Stage B: The Stage A markers are still visible, but they are very weak.
