1971 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Repunched Mintmark RPM-010

Description

RPM-010 breaks from the southward dominance of RPM-007 through RPM-009 with a tilted mintmark displacement — D/D Tilted — on an ODV-027 obverse die without the re-engraved bowtie. The UVC and DMR codes remain unassigned (listed as UVC-???? and DMR-0??), indicating this variety was cataloged without the full attribution metadata available for earlier entries — possibly a later discovery or a variety documented from limited specimen access. Three die stages are recorded with the most diagnostic information concentrated at the end of the die's working life. Stage A and Stage B at Early and Mid Die State, both unconfirmed, represent the die before its most characteristic markers developed. Stage C at Late Die State documents two prominent features: a long die scratch running northwest through the 97 of the date, creating a conspicuous diagonal line across two numerals, and a die clash in bays two and three of the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse. This combination of a date-area scratch and reverse die clash gives late-die-state specimens from RPM-010 a rich identification framework despite the incomplete UVC assignment.
