1971 (D) Eisenhower Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1971-D WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1971-D Eisenhower dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. IN GOD WE TRUST and the date show a Class II spread toward the center, which is slight on the letters of LIBERTY. On the obverse, above WE's E, two scratches head NE, an NW-to-SE scratch sits inside GOD's D, and a WNW-to-ESE scratch lies above the mint mark. The reverse is an example of the "Four Island" reverse variety, and a scratch runs SSW from between the bases of STATES's A and T. Thomas Kalantzis and Brian Vaile submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
