Description
1970 WDDR-005 is a doubled die reverse on the 1970 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is a close Class V clockwise (CW) spread from a pivot near 6:00, visible on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the torch flame and lightly on ONE DIME. On the obverse, in LIBERTY, NW/SE die scratches cross the gap separating the tops of R and T. On the reverse, parallel NNW/SSE scratches lie above the E of E PLURIBUS UNUM; from the M in UNUM a strong die gouge heads NW, starting at the letter's top right; and parallel NW/SE scratches lie right of the top of that M. Tanner Scott submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
