1970 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001 / DDR-001

Description

Cross-referenced as FS-801 in the Cherrypickers' Guide, the 1970 Roosevelt dime DDR-001, which Wexler also numbers WDDR-001, is a doubled die reverse with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the torch flame strongly spread and ONE DIME lightly spread. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a Class V clockwise spread from a pivot near 6:00 on the same lettering and the flame, slight on ONE DIME. No die markers are noted on either side. John A. Wexler submitted the coin, and Wexler cross-references it as CONECA 1-R-V and Cherrypickers FS-10-1970-801 (020.6). VarietyVista also credits John A. Wexler with the report, cites FS-801, and notes that it is known struck on an aluminum planchet for the Philippine 1 Sentimo. Under its marker codes UVC-532 and DMR-002 it records Stage A with reverse and obverse in an early die state; Stage B (middle die state) and Stage C (late die state) are unconfirmed.
