1969-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-005
Error
Description
A proof-only Jefferson Nickel from the San Francisco Mint, RPM-005 was documented by VarietyVista with an S/S North (Proof) displacement. Die markers UVC-482 / DMR-007: Stage A with obverse and reverse at EDS; Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). Specimens are needed for new color digital photographs per the cataloger's notes. Repunched mintmarks on proof coins are less common than on business strikes because proof dies typically receive more careful preparation. Composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm, the 1969-S proof set was produced during a transitional period, as the Mint had recently moved all proof production to San Francisco following the 1965-67 Special Mint Set interlude.
