Description

DDR-001, which Wexler numbers WDDR-001, is a doubled die reverse on the 1968-S proof Kennedy half dollar, with spread on the lettering and on the stars around the rim and tripled stars under OF AMERICA. Both catalogs give it the Cherrypickers number FS-801, which Wexler writes FS-50-1968S-801. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties calls the spread a moderate counterclockwise Class I, seen on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, HALF DOLLAR, the circle of stars and the rays, and notes that the stars below AMERICA are tripled. It records no die markers on either side and does not name a submitter. CONECA lists the die as 1-R-I. VarietyVista, crediting Jennifer Casazza, describes the spread as strong on all the lettering and the rim stars, with a medium triple spread on the stars under OF AMERICA. It marks the coin as a proof with reverse design variety RDV-003. Under marker codes UVC-139 and DMR-006, both sides are early in stage A and middle in stage B; stage C, a late die state, is unconfirmed.
