Description
1968-S WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1968-S proof Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. The stars in the circle are doubled from 8:00 clockwise around to 4:00. The stars under the clouds and behind the eagle's head are doubled as well, and USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) and E PLURIBUS UNUM (EPU) are spread toward the center. On the obverse, a short vertical gouge lies right of the upper part of LIBERTY's T. On the reverse, a short vertical scratch is inside the lower E in UNITED, and a gouge sits inside the O in DOLLAR, at its center left. Kevin Flynn submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
