1967 SMS Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

1967 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1967 Special Mint Set Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A very close spread toward the center appears on LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and the designer's initials. On the obverse, a die chip sits in the hair atop the head, a N/S scratch touches the forehead, a gouge lies near the rim under TRUST's R, and another gouge sits above and between IN's N and GOD's G. On the reverse, die pitting shows over ST in STATES, a scratch crosses ME in AMERICA, and gouges sit inside AMERICA's C, around ME in DIME, inside ONE's O and left of STATES's first T. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments note that the coin examined has a proof-like surface and came from a 1967 Special Mint Set.
