Description
The 1967 SMS Roosevelt Dime is a Special Mint Set (SMS) dime struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Roosevelt Dimes Clad and Silver Proof 1965 to Date series. Total mintage reached 1.9 million. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes, while the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Designed by John R. Sinnock. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 2.27 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #95242. The Roosevelt Dime was introduced in 1946, shortly after President Franklin D. Silver Roosevelt Dimes (1946-1964) are collected for both numismatic interest and silver content. Full Bands (FB) and Full Torch (FT) designations add premium value. Proof issues from 1950-1964 are popular.
