Description

Struck in the inaugural year of the Kennedy Half Dollar — a coin born from national mourning after President Kennedy's assassination on November 22, 1963 — this Proof DDR-015 displays light spread on STATES OF AMERICA and the stars positioned under those letters, with very light spread also visible on the stars between the heraldic eagle's rays. VarietyVista assigned catalog code UVC-383 and die marker reference DMR-051, with all three die stages confirmed: Stage A at early die state, Stage B at mid-die state, and Stage C at late die state for both reverse and obverse. The variety belongs to the ODV-002/RDV-002 die pairing, identified by the distinctive Flared G in the reverse design. Gilroy Roberts designed the obverse portrait, while Frank Gasparro created the reverse featuring a modified Presidential Seal. The full confirmation across all three die stages makes DDR-015 one of the more thoroughly documented varieties in the 1964 Kennedy Proof series.
