1964 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-005

Description

1964 WDDR-005 is a doubled die reverse on the 1964 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A strong counterclockwise (CCW) spread pivoting from about 12:00 appears on the talons, the wreath, the STA of STATES, UNITED, AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR. On the obverse, a scratch heads north off the G in GOD at its top, and a crack crosses the bust's base and enters the lower queue. On the reverse, a crack leaves the back of the eagle's head heading SE and ends in a small die chip, and on the eagle's right wing under the UN of UNITED there is a crack. Joe Feld and Ron Pope submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 4-R-V, and Cherrypickers as FS-25-1964-804. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
