Description
1964 WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1964 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A strong clockwise (CW) spread appears on the wreath, UNITED and QUARTER DOLLAR. On Obverse Stage A, a crack crosses the bust's base and enters the lower queue; by Obverse Stage B that crack reaches into the field on either side of the bust. Reverse Stage A has a short gouge heading west off the second S in STATES from its upper left. Reverse Stage B shows a strong scratch heading NE off the D in UNITED from its center right side, and a crack descending the eagle's right wing. Joe Feld submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 5-R-V. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
