1964 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-031

Description

1964 WDDR-031 is a doubled die reverse on the 1964 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center appears on ONE DIME, E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, strongest on the right half of the reverse. The obverse has a Blunt Tail 9, and over-polishing has left the head with a beveled edge. N/S scratches run all over, with a strong N/S scratch from the nose to the chin. A concentric scratch lies near the rim over LI in LIBERTY, a WNW/ESE scratch sits above the head, and crisscrossing scratches lie between LIBERTY's B and E. On the reverse, light feeder finger damage runs through TES in STATES, and light N/S scratches cover the left side. A gouge sits between UNUM's N and U, and long, thin gouges lie in AMERICA's C and over its M. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments note that it closely resembles WDDR-020 and suggest comparing the doubling and die markers.
