1964 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-028

Description

1964 WDDR-028 is a doubled die reverse on the 1964 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A very close clockwise (CW) spread pivoting at 11:00 appears on DIME, NUM of UNUM and AMERICA. Obverse Stage A: a NW/SE scratch is centered between WE and TRUST, a NW scratch sits over GOD's O, a long NNW scratch runs from the upper center of WE's W between IN and GOD, and a strong scratch runs north from the brow and forehead. On Obverse Stage B these markers are weaker. Reverse Stage A has a short curving scratch on the upper right of ONE's O. Reverse Stage B: a die crack runs from the rim between T and E of UNITED to the upper left olive leaves. A scratch runs SE from the lower left olive leaf through PLURIBUS's P and curves to the torch holder. Over the L of PLURIBUS, three scratches form an X and a V, a scratch runs south from under the upper tip of STATES's last S, and a series of NNE/SSW scratches marks the oak branch's left side.
