Description

Exclusive to proof strikes, DDO-034 is a doubled die obverse on the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar exhibiting light spread on WE TRUST, the RTY of LIBERTY, and the hair at the back of President Kennedy's head. Cross-referenced as UVC-405 and DMR-054 in the VarietyVista catalog, this variety has been documented across three die stages tracing its service life from early through terminal use. Stage A represents early die state with unconfirmed status, Stage B captures an obverse in mid-die-state paired with a reverse in early die state, and Stage C records an obverse in late die state opposite a reverse in mid-die-state. The obverse die is designated ODV-002, paired with RDV-001 featuring the Straight G design element. As a proof-only variety, DDO-034 was produced at Philadelphia on specially prepared planchets struck with polished dies, yielding mirror fields and frosted devices.
