1964 Kennedy Half Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1964 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1964 Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. The obverse doubling is Class II, spread toward the center, on IN GOD WE TRUST (IGWT), the date, the designer's initials and TY of LIBERTY. Left of the lower part of LIBERTY's T is a small gouge (dot). On the reverse, the G of FG is flared; Wexler attributes the slight doubling on the ring of stars and on USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) to the doubled master die, WMDR-001. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 7-O-II. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
