1964 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-009

Description

1964-D WRPM-009 is a repunched mint mark on the 1964-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated). The obverse has a Blunt 9. Strong scratches Wexler gives as NW/SW cover the fields above the date and behind the head, and also under LIBERTY and in front of the head. Crisscrossing scratches leave the rim at 1:00, and strong scratches extend NW from IN GOD. The reverse has many N/S scratches across the fields. A strong NE/SW scratch runs along the right side of ONE's E and meets the mint mark. Strong scratches extend NE from DIME's D and from the first dot of E PLURIBUS UNUM. Another strong NE/SW scratch starts over DIME's M on its right side and crosses UNUM's second U to reach the oak leaves, a N/S scratch joins DIME's E with UNUM's second U, and X-shaped scratches lie between the torch top and the upper oak leaves. David Goff submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references and notes this is a replacement listing, since the original files were missing from the Bordner files. The comments add that the replacement for WRPM-008 may once have been WRPM-009, though this cannot be confirmed.
