1964 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark RPM-009

Description

The D mintmark on this 1964-D Roosevelt dime is repunched with the secondary D to the south of the primary — a D/D South variety attributed by VarietyVista under UVC-488 and DMR-036. This is FS-506, a Fivaz-Stanton listed variety. The obverse die is ODV-011, featuring a blunt 9 in the date. Stage A shows both the reverse and obverse in early die state. The 1964-D Roosevelt dime was struck at Denver in 90% silver, the final year of the silver Roosevelt dime series — 1965 clad coinage replaced the silver composition permanently. The FS-506 designation places this variety in the Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties, increasing its collector visibility beyond the VarietyVista census.
