1964-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-005

Description

Documented by VarietyVista, this final-year silver Roosevelt Dime carries D/D North displacement with a possible obverse die variety ODV-00? (tentatively 9). Die markers: UVC-483, DMR-031. Stage A: Numerous die scratches on reverse and obverse — EDS. Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed). Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). The extensive early-state scratches suggest heavy die finishing before service. Sinnock's Roosevelt Dime was struck at Denver in 1964, composed of 90% silver, 10% copper (2.50 g, 17.91 mm). The 1964-D had an enormous mintage exceeding 1.3 billion pieces as the Mint raced to produce silver dimes before the Coinage Act of 1965 mandated copper-nickel clad composition, making this the most prolific silver dime date.
