1964-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-004

Description

Cross-referenced as FS-503, this VarietyVista-documented Denver Mint Roosevelt Silver Dime exhibits a D/D South repunched mintmark with the obverse also designated as ODV-011 (blunt 9), creating a dual-variety coin. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-481 / DMR-029 for Stage A with reverse and obverse at EDS; Stage B with reverse at MDS and a heavy die scratch across the upper hair at MDS; Stage C with numerous die scratches north-south on the reverse at LDS, obverse at LDS. Then UVC-482 / DMR-030: Stage D with a very weak secondary mintmark at LDS and the obverse die changed at MDS. The blunt 9 obverse die variant adds a second classification to the RPM designation. Designed by John R. Sinnock, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm during the final year of silver dime production before the Coinage Act of 1965.
