Documented by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-366 and DMR-007, this 1961 Roosevelt Silver Dime DDR-002 displays light spread with extra thickness on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DIME, and E PLURIBUS — a comprehensive pattern affecting the major reverse inscriptions where the doubling manifests as bolstered, thicker-appearing letters rather than separated secondary images, indicating a close-spread hub displacement. Three die stages are documented: Stage A is early die state (EDS, unconfirmed); Stage B is identified at MDS by a strong die scratch running through the upper I of AMERICA — a prominent and easily located marker that serves as the primary diagnostic for this mid-life stage — with the obverse also at MDS; and Stage C brings both reverse and obverse to LDS. The strong die scratch through the upper I of AMERICA in Stage B provides collectors with a secondary identification feature independent of the doubling itself, allowing quick field checks of potential DDR-002 candidates before detailed doubling examination. The Roosevelt Dime was designed by John R. Sinnock, struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1961 in 90% silver composition weighing 2.50 grams with a diameter of 17.9 mm.
